wind farm, wind turbine
Llandinam wind farm, originally commissioned in 1993, is located about 12 km southwest of Newtown, Powys, and 45 km east of Aberystwyth, Wales. It currently consists of 103 Mitsubishi MWT-275-28 wind turbines with a combined nominal capacity of 28 MW.
The wind farm is, however, about to be repowered by removing all these and replacing them with newer and larger models (which is why none of the current turbines are mapped). From the ScottishPower website:
"Our current proposal involves the removal of the existing 102 turbines, replacing them with 34 new turbines.
On 7th September 2015 the project received consent under Section 36 of the Electricity Act 1989 from the Secretary of State for Energy."
