No one knows the date of this very old area in Madurai. This is supposed to be the place where originally Lord azhagar alighted in River Vaigai in the month of Masi. However King Thirumalai Naickar in a good will merge saiva and vainava festivals had shifted the celebrations from this place to obula padithurai
