  • Christ Church is the oldest Protestant church in the Middle East. It was completed in 1849 despite a moratorium on church building in Jerusalem put in place by the Ottoman Empire. It was billed at the time as a private chapel for the British consul. The accommodations built for his clergy today serve as a guesthouse. There is also a heritage center / museum, coffee shop and bookstore in the nearby buildings run in connection with the Church.
