Neighborhood in the southern part of Valley Stream (not to be confused with South Valley Stream) that was built up by William Gibson and his Gibson Corporation. The concurrent development of the Long Island Railroad station at Gibson and Sunrise Highway made the section very appealing to a new class of commuters. Gibson station, built in May 1928 to serve the community, is the second newest along the Far Rockaway branch. Children in Gibson also attend schools within the Hewlett-Woodmere district, making it appealing for young families.
