This viewpoint is atop a large spoil hill from the nearby New Fancy View Colliery. The Forestry Commission invested in this, creating a decked viewpoint and the paths leading up to it. Just meters to the South-West of this view point, can be seen a small map and information board. This number coded map shows the Iron and Coal Mines, and Stone Quarries of the Forest of Dean.
