Better known as the "Bridge to Nowhere", it was one of the many follies of the abandoned Glasgow Inner Ring Road project. The bridge was supposed to connect the new housing estates of Anderston West to the Anderston Centre, but the second phase of the latter development was never built, meaning that the bridge terminated in mid air for over 40 years, and triggered a near eternal debate over what to do with the structure.
After 41 long years, the missing part of the bridge was finally built and opened in early 2013, now connecting to Waterloo Street as part of a cycle route, and opened in July 2013.
