It was the motor ship "Dodecanese", which on March 22, 1958 sank near the Turkish coast. It was heading from Rhodes to Kos. It encountered severe thunderstorms and stormy winds. Some of the passengers who were rescued after sinking for hours on the shores had said the waves were spectacular due to the stormy winds. The people lost were 25, including a mother with her four children.
