There is difference of opinion regarding the name veliancode.The 'veliam' described in 'sanga kala' books could be veliancode.Another opinion is that veliancode is the fort of 'velian' or 'velians'.Whatever be the origin of the name,veliancode,an old sea-port,had longstanding trade relations with Arabs and Europeans.

Veliancode is a beautiful coastal village spanning out eastwards from Arabian sea to Naranippuzha(Narani River).Bordering Puduponnani on north and perumpadappu on south.
Veliancode gave birth to great leaders like Ummer Khazi,Kunhimarakkar Shaheed,K.C.S Panikkar,who were famous for their leadership,knowledge and ethics.
