"The Wapato Facility is currently not housing detainees and the site is not generally open to the public. In cooperation with Multnomah County, the Sheriff’s Office is working hard to find the resources to open the facility and begin housing inmates to support the local public safety system.
When the facility opens, the facility’s capacity will be 525 and will house medium security inmates. Operationally, the building is able to support numerous secure programs intended to help meet the needs of inmates to reintegrate themselves back into the community upon their release."
