Scappoose Bay is an excellent place for kayaking and bird watching. Access to the water for paddlers is available at Scappoose Bay Marina. Paddling in small quiet creeks and marshes is available up the bay. The big waters of the Multnomah Channel and the Columbia River are available down the bay, as well as access to Cunningham Slough, flowing out of Sauvies Island. Fauna include herons, osprey, eagles, kingfishers, deer, otter, beaver, turtles, shorebirds and the occasional sea lion. There are several geocaches in and around the bay.
