Windows XP 'Bliss' desktop

USA / California / Sonoma /
viewpoint, Microsoft, vineyard / grape plantation

"The man behind the camera is American photographer Charles O’Rear. Don’t let his name fool you into thinking that the photo was in fact taken in Ireland. Bliss, as it turns out, is in California. In Sonoma County to be exact."

More than 400 million copies of Windows XP were sold in its first five years, and the operating system wasn't retired until 2014, meaning more than a billion people have very likely seen that photo. The first photo is the original photo used for the Windows XP desk top as it appeared in 1996. The second photo is Bliss Hill, now a vineyard, as it appears today.
