One of the lakes reachable by road from the west side of the Sierra, altitude 7400 ft. A commercial boat takes hikers from the road end on the W to the E end of the lake, which is a trail head for hikers going into Evolution Valley. Along with Edison Lake, Huntington Lake, and Shaver Lake, these lakes were all built around 1920 by daming the river, for hydroelectric power. Long hydro tunnels connect Edison and Florence to Huntington Lake.
