Infrasound station IS48 at Kesra is part of the International Monitoring System for detecting nuclear test explosions. Installed in 2006, the station employs an array of seven sensing elements (inner elements L1-L4 and outer elements L5-L7) to monitor low-frequency sound waves generated by natural and man-made events.
