Infrasound station IS47 is part of the International Monitoring System, a global network of facilities for detecting violations of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT). The station's eight array sites, arranged in an inner triangle and an outer pentagon, use microbarometers to detect long-period sound waves originating from nuclear test explosions and other events such as earthquakes. The collected information is processed at a nearby Central Processing Facility and sent to the CTBTO International Data Centre in Vienna.
