  • "Rao Bahadour" T.R. Ramachandra Iyer constructed the Temple for Lord RAMA. The congregation ceremony of the Temple was held on 11-06-1899. Ramachandra Iyer had his formal school education in Triprayar and Trichur. He graduated from Kozhikode college and passed his B.L degree from the Law College Chennai. Sri Ramachandra Iyer was appointed as the Dist. Judge of Trichur High Court in 1892. While staying in Trichur he used to visit the "Vadakkumnathan" Lord Siva Temple daily. Then he cherished a desire to build a temple for LORD RAMA as THE LORD was the favoured deity for the Trikkur family. He acquired necessary lands in the nearby village Poonkunnam and established an Agraharam and the temple with the guidance and help of his brothers. To help the poor by giving them opportunities for employment, he also started a spinning mill in Poonkunnam. He was conferred with a title "Rao Bahadour" by the Government in recognition of his service to the society.
