The Dorking Greystone Lime Co. Ltd's Betchworth Works produced lime and cement products from c.1867-1969. A number of Dietzsch limekilns were built on site between 1867 and 1900 as well as various other buildings, most of which have now been demolished. After closure the pit was used as a landfill site and the old works were used as a rubbish depot. Landfilling ceased in 2005 and the works yard is now used as a haulage depot.
