Spanning the Black Rock Canal and the present location of Intersate 190, which at one time was the Erie Canal Tow Path, the International Railway Swing Bridge connects mainland New York with Squaw Island and provides a navigable opening of 90ft. Originally steam powered, the bridge could open or close in approximately fifty seconds. Today the bridge is electric powered and can open and close in slightly over 1 minute.
