The El Dorado County Court House was completed in 1912. The old Court House built in 1859 on this lot burned in 1910 along with many early County records. The two Civil War era cannons were acquired by the Grand Army of the Republic Placerville Post 108 in 1913 when the War Department made surplus cannons available to communities.
