  • Myladumparai in Tamil means 'the Rock on which the Peacock dances'. This village was developed from a small collection of huts into a Panchayat Union by my grandfather: Shri T. Venkatasamy Naicker. These parts were known as 'ulkaadu', meaning interior forests in the 19th and 20th centuries. In fact, still some people use that term. Some 5000 acres of this area were sold by the British East India Company to a Seth businessman from Bombay (now Mumbai). As the Seth could not travel to TamilNadu and develop this area, he was looking to sell it. This land was then bought by different groups of Pioneers, including a group headed by Shri T. Venkatasamy Naicker, in early 20th century. In those days, Cholera & other epidemics were very common in these parts. The land was unfit for agriculture, as it was mostly forests inhabited by Wild Elephants, Tigers & other animals. It was the pioneering spirit of Shri T. Venkatasamy Naicker & those of his time that took upon the challenge to move into this area & develop it. Shri T. Venkatasamy Naicker was the driving force behind developing this village & against all odds, successfully camapaigned the Tamil Nadu State Government to designate this village as the Panchayat Union for the surrounding areas. He & my father Shri V. Muthukrishnan donated the land on which the Panchayat Union office is built. The people of this area honored Shri T. Venkatasamy Naicker for his contributions by making him the Panchayat Union President. I have a lot of pleasant childhood memories of this village, as I spent a few weeks every summer enjoying the pristine glory & the abundance of nature in the form of surrounding hills, the seasonal Vaigai River and the coconut groves. The Coimbatore based PSG Group has also immensely contributed immensely to this village with their GRV Higher Secondary School.
