The tower's official name "Arqiva Tower" is shown on a sign beside the offices at the base of the tower but it is commonly known as "Emley Moor mast".
At 330.4 metres (1084 feet) this is the tallest free-standing reinforced concrete structure in Britain.

The previous mast on this site collapsed.

  • I beleieve it is the tallest free-standing structure in the UK, not just the tallest concrete one. The previous lattice work, wire-stayed mast collapsed in 1969 under the weight of accumulated ice
