coworking space, building/structure that has been renovated/restored/reconstructed
In the early 20th century, Showers Brothers was one of the largest furniture manufacturers in the country, and was by far the largest employer in Bloomington. The company's fortunes then declined, and they closed the doors in 1958. Most of the factory was destroyed in a 1969 fire. This surviving part was bought by Indiana University, then by Bloomington Regional Development. In 2020 the Kiln Collective announced plans to re-develop the building for mixed-use business.
