    The real name is Falklands Intermediate Port And Storage System, this was decided upon by MOD in 1983 because of the need something to be intermediate between the ships coming in and the end user onshore and also to cut down on handling and the amount of time it took to offload a vessel. It paid for itself in saved shipping costs in 2 years. Onboard included 3 large warehouses, 1 small warehouse, 1 mechanical workshop, accom for 30 people, offices, galley and mess hall as well as maintenance workshops for the port and its own power generation and water making systems, it was self sufficient all it required was diesel.
