D'Youville College was founded by the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart and named for their patron Saint Marie-Marguerite d'Youville. It is a private, coeducational college, independent but with a Catholic tradition. The college's charter was granted on April 8, 1908. It was the first college to admit women in western New York State, and remained a women's college until the 1970s. D'Youville offers degrees for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students, as well as advanced certificates for health care professionals, and a certificate program in teaching.
A Doctor of Chiropractic seven-year program leading to a bachelor’s and doctorate is available and D’Youville is the first standard accredited multi-disciplinary college in New York to “mainstream” chiropractic education and only the second in the nation to do so.
