Built by the Royal Marines during the 1870’s, the Royal Falkland Islands Police Station is an excellent example of a Victorian police station with its high narrow cells and a walled exercise yard to the rear. Structural problems were encountered from the start due to the shortage of building lime, the buttresses and S ties visible from the North were added almost as soon as the building was finished. It was badly damaged by a British missile in the 1982 conflict and later repaired.
