The airport was closed in 1985, and the site was taken over by General Motors, which converted & expanded the former bomber plant into its Fairfax Assembly Plant, eventually covering part of the former airfield. Easternmost point of Kansas.

  • I thought the bomber facility was the GM Fairfax car plant before WW2 then converted into bomber production.Then after the war it reverted back to automobiles.Around 1985 GM tore down the old plant and built the one you see here.
