  • This is not a public park - the name "Spreckelsville Beach Park" is misleading. The beachline is public, as are all beaches in Hawaii. However all else - the unpaved access road, parking area, and areas adjoining the beach - are all on privately owned land. There is no formal easement for access. There are no facilities - no showers, no toilets, no trash pickup. The beach itself is suffering from erosion. Despite seasonal fluctuations and winter replenishment, the shoreline has been retreating steadily. The likely cause is industrial-scale mining of this area's beach sand by the Alexander Baldwin Co., which operated a sand kiln continually at Baldwin Beach near Paia from 1904 to 1979. for seventy-five years, tons and truckloads of beach sand were being removed and processed in the kiln. Much of the refined sand was sent to build the roads of Oahu. The result is a permanent and irreversible imbalance in Maui's North Shore beach sand system.
  • This area is actually the Camp One fishing preserve, and is posted "No Windsurfing Rigging or Launching" by County Order. For the popular windsurfing beach, refer to "Euro Beach" further East.
