This theater was originally a live production theater, then started showing movies, and became a live theater after it closed in the 1980s. Later on, it quickly became an outdoor theater after the roof collapsed but still remained in use. Since then, it's been fully converted to an outdoor theater. The back of the stage area was renovated and repainted, and the original marquee sits on a new facade. The original Palace Theater can be seen in the music video for Lyle Lovett's "This Old Porch", which shows the theater in its post-collapse dilapidated state before it was restored as a full outdoor theater.
