Used for spotting ships and submarines in WWII.
This one is quite a bit different than the towers found from Cape Henlopen to Fenwick Island, that are round concrete structures.

This tower is a 3 story corrugated steel 10x10 "hut" mounted on a steel structure with 4 flights of stairs to get inside. The floors were rotted out, making the 2nd floor the only "safe" floor to stand on.

Each floor had 2 pipe standards for mounting two powerful telescopes, one for azimuth, the other for a rangefinder.

Kids used to party here. It is now fenced off, unsafe to be in.
