The Broad River Energy Center is located in Gaffney, South Carolina. The capacity and energy of five combustion turbines, with once through steam generators for power augmentation, is sold to Carolina Power & Light support their native load requirements. The total output from the Broad River Energy Center is sold to Carolina Power & Light (CP&L) under long-term power purchase agreements.

During the summer, this facility is cycled in a customized fashion in order to support the native load requirements of CP&L. The Broad River Energy Center pays approximately $2 million in taxes annually. This source of tax revenue has added valuable support to the local community, which had seen the dramatic loss of revenue through the closing of multiple textile mills.
