This village is named after the tribal God Budha debta. This village was Gaunti under the Zamindar of Jujomura. The village lord(Gauntia) belonged to Gonda tribe. In Gonda and other tribal languages Dakra means Budha or Old Man. Hence the village derives its name from the presiding deity of the village Budha debta. At present Phakira is the only survivor of Gonda Landlords. Later the village Zamindari(Guanti) passed on to Sri Luburu Dash through auction transfer. Luburu Dash is now survived by his fourth generation and most of his landholdings were lost to another satrap due to internal squablings by his three younger sons.Prominent in the succession line are Dr.Ashok Kumar Dash, Saroj kumar Dash, Satyanarayan Dash, Dilip Kumar dash, Kanhu Charan Dash and Prakash Kumar Dash
Situated on the bank of a river Dhueeljor,the village was home to a talented child carer Damnen Budhi who had a deep understanding of child psychology.Her total dedication to the cause of downtrodden children is worthy of record.This revenue village with a population of around 500 hosts the headquarter of Gram Panchayat and the most popular village after Dhama in this part of the world.
