The 387-foot tower and transmitter building underneath were built around 1948 for KQV-FM, one of Pittsburgh's first commercial FM stations. From 1972 until 2011, Duquesne University used the site to transmit its own WDUQ-FM public radio broadcasts. Today the former WDUQ is run by Essential Public Radio under the call letters WESA. The site is owned and maintained by American Tower.
