CSX has one of its major rail lines serving Wilmington that connects the port with points to the west and south. CSX Transportation Davis Yard in Leland, NC provides freight transportation and serves as the base for switching operations. With a car capacity of 2,250, the facility is three miles long and has 55 separate tracks. Piggy-back service is also provided by modern highway loading and unloading facilities. This railroad yard offers long and short-haul truck service and has a transloading ability for dry and liquid bulk products, warehouses for lumber, paper and packaged products, steel centers for ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
