Splendid French Second Empire Style building, now the home of the Waitaki District Council. The building was designed by Forrester & Lemon in 1883 with the clock tower an addition from 1903 designed by J.J.Forrester's son John Forrester. The clock was donated by St John Buckley as a memorial to his uncle the Hon. John McLean.
