Eastern Industries, Inc., Strodes Mill Quarry is located seven miles southwest of Lewistown along State Route 522 in Mifflin County. This facility markets solely yellow buff masonry sand throughout central Pennsylvania. The Strodes Mill Quarry produces C-144 masonry sand from the Oriskany Formation.

Many well-known buildings and schools in Central Pennsylvania including many at Penn State University have blocks and bricks set with Strodes Mill mortar sand. The Kline family started the plant in 1960. Faylor-Middlecreek, Inc. purchased the plant in the early 1970’s, and continued to operate it until 1990, when it was sold to Eastern Industries, Inc.
