Owned by the Harrison Island Conservation Society. The island was previously called Black Walnut Island. The island's farmhouse links Harrison Island's present to its historic Civil War past. The island lies across the river from the site of the Battle of Ball's Bluff, which took place Oct. 21, 1861.
