Krishna Temple Complex (Hampi)

India / Karnataka / Kamalapuram / Hampi
place with historical importance, hindu temple

It Was Constructed by Sri hariharaya & Bukka Raya who founders of Vijaya Nagara Samrajya and later further constructed under the guidance of Krishnadevarao. the temple was constructed after the termination of war with Kalinga. Legend tells that the Kalinga king gave one of her daughters in marriage to the king, who at first tried to kill him but later repented. The first gopuram of this temple shows the majestic spendour of the king's army, marching to battle in sculptures. The temple mandap also harbors onerousness stunning sculpture work. When in Hampi, this is a temple not to be missed. The main garva-griha is empty because of later plunder by invading muslim forces.
However, one would do well to remember that there were a lot of muslims living in Vijaynagar, all of whom fought FOR, not against the King!! The proof of this fact lies in the hall of 100 pillars where a Portugese, a Roman and a Muslim soldiers are seen to ride "yelli"s, the mythical vyallas.-Pradipto.

  • All the civilisation had a tale of invations and distructions. Earlier Aryans invaded, destroyed and dictated the region. Later the Mangols, Turkish, Moghals among Muslims and Dutch, French, Portigese, Britishamong Christians invaded it. Due to this this region has become a vibrant population of mixed blood. For your information before and during the Muslim rules the GDP of India was No.1 uptil 17th century. When the British left India we were in the bottom of the chart. Simply don't accuse the Muslim invaders and create hatredness among the citizen of our country. United we rise & divided we fall that is what the history teaches us so before accusing others look into yourself.
