FAMOUS MURUGAN TEMPLE IN CHENNAI SUBURB.Lord Murugan is seen with two of his wives Valli and deivaanai in this temple. But you can view lord muruga accompanied by only one of these goddess from either side.This is an interesting fact about this temple.The steps leading to the temple aren't very steep. தலபெருமை:

84 படிகள் கொண்ட குன்றின் மீது அமைந்த கோயில் இது. இக்கோயிலில் முருகன் சன்னதிக்கு நேரே நின்று பார்த்தால், முருகன் மட்டுமே தெரிவார்.

வள்ளி, தெய்வானையைக் காண முடியாது. சன்னதிக்கு இடப்புறம் அல்லது வலப்புறம் நின்று பார்த்தால் முருகனை, வள்ளி அல்லது தெய்வானை ஆகிய இருவரில் ஒருவருடன் சேர்ந்திருக்கும்படிதான் தரிசிக்க முடியும் வகையில் சன்னதி அமைக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறது. முருகன் சன்னதி முன்புள்ள துவாரபாலகர்கள் இருவரும், முருகனைப் போலவே கையில் வஜ்ரம், சூலம் வைத்திருக்கின்றனர்.

சுப்பிரமணியருக்கு அபிஷேகம் செய்த விபூதியையே, பிரசாதமாக தருகின்றனர். கந்தசஷ்டி விழா இங்கு எட்டு நாட்கள் நடக்கிறது. ஆறாம் நாளில் சூரசம்ஹாரம், ஏழாம் நாள் வள்ளி திருமணம், எட்டாம் நாளில் தெய்வானை திருமணம் நடக்கிறது. பெரியபுராணம் இயற்றிய சேக்கிழார் இவ்வூரில் அவதரித்தவர்.

இவருக்கு மலையடிவாரத்தில் தனிக்கோயில் இருக்கிறது. குன்றுடன் அமைந்த ஊர் என்பதல் இத்தலம் குன்றத்தூர் என்று அழைக்கப்படுகிறது. மலைப்பாதையின் நடுவே வலஞ்சுழி விநாயகர் சன்னதி இருக்கிறது.

தல வரலாறு:

திருப்போரூரில் அசுரர்களுடன் போரிட்டு வென்ற முருகப்பெருமான், சாந்தமாகி திருத்தணிக்குச் சென்றார். வழியில் சிவபூஜை செய்ய எண்ணினார். இங்கு ஒரு லிங்கத்தை பிரதிஷ்டை செய்து பூஜித்தார். அப்போது இக்குன்றில் சிறிது நேரம் சிவனை வேண்டி தியானித்துவிட்டுச் சென்றார்.

பிற்காலத்தில் இப்பகுதியை குலோத்துங்க சோழ மன்னன், ஆட்சி செய்தபோது குன்றின் மீது முருகனுக்கு கோயில் கட்டப்பட்டது. முருகனால் பூஜிக்கப்பட்ட சிவன், மலைக்கு அடிவாரத்தில் "கந்தழீஸ்வரர்' என்ற பெயரில், தனிக்கோயில் மூர்த்தியாக அருளுகிறார். கந்தனால் வழிபடப்பட்டவர் என்பதால் இவருக்கு இப்பெயர்.

  • Murugan has only two wives. It's funny to say 'two of his wives' and looks as if he has plenty of wives. This itself is being taken as an example by our Tamil people to have two wives. If he had more than two, Tamilnadu cannot stand.

  • This temple is very powerful. whenever i was in critical situation, i used to visit this temple. everything will be alright with no time... i was a waste paper once upon a time... after worshiping lord murugan i reached a honorable status in life both in wealth and position. all the credit belongs to my god lord murugan. i am a sincere devotee of lord murugan.
