The Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre (VIRCC) is a remand and sentenced facility for inmates of all levels of risk. The facility was opened in 1913 and completely rebuilt in the mid-1980s. Significant renovations were made during the 1990s. The heritage facade and internal courtyard design are unique features among provincial facilities in B.C.

  • What kind of jail is Wilkinson jail? Is it a prison for people who are thieves, or is it a rehab for addicts to become clean? I ask because my sister received a letter from one of your inmates today and he is/was an addict. He has a past of abuse...so I was curious as to what type of prison you are?
  • VIRCC system is all rubbish. The guard aka unit prison officer ( most of them are corrupted ) favour repeated offender. This is a Correctional facility and most inmates ( new offender ) are trying to change and become a better person after their release. The management screening department is a failure. They put violence inmates with quiet/ defendless inmates together, hence the bully is countless. I was there in N unit for many months, I have experienced physical bully, calling names n sexual abuse. The answer from classification or CS aka senior officer will only removed those bully inmate victim to A&B unit, which is protected custody for 23hrs lock down. The victim has to suffer whereas the stronger, more violence inmates will remain in the unit. Where is justice in the justice system ! ex-N unit inmates
  • How do you send an individual a letter and photos? Do you just use the jails address and put attention to the inmate??
  • sending your inmates to the VIT clinic in Naniamo is total nonsense. There is no structure...other than a daily meeting...no weekend supervision...the residents are on facebook...going to the beach...hooking up with woman...its not a structured place where any resident from Wilkinson should be going...now my son is on the loose once again..as he decided the VITC is a joke! he has never had any structure...not really any rules...it is a bad decision...to let inmates with any type of addictive drug activity in their background.
  • Hi I just saw your question and I thought I could help. I'm sure you have already found out. My brother just got sent there. When he was there years ago, I wrote the jail name then in brackets below I wrote his name. Every time I sent photos with a letter, it all got sent back to me. So I mailed them separately and it was all good. Take care

  • what is the fastest and best way to send money to a inmate where there no wait and no hassel besides dropping it off and do I need there personal inmate number or just the name anyone know
  • Just the name, you have to send it via money order and anything over $200 has 30 day hold placed on it.
  • How do i find out if a family member is there
  • You have to call the operations support unit (OSU) the number is 1 (280) 387-1605. They will get a message to the inmate but you have to have their full me and birth date. They will then give the message to the inmate in they are indeed in a facility. Then it's up to the inmate to call you. They are not allowed to tell you if the inmate is incarcerated.
  • How to check if the person is in this jail?
  • Can I speak to a Dr or social worker as its a mental health issue. Does anyone know?
  • I was given this phone number, & told that if my brother was missing I'd might want to check here. 1-250-953-4400 & to leave a message call 1-250-387-1605
