Cinderalla Deep Mine

This was the old Cinderalla Deep mine which had mining claim 288 cls. Just over 100 years ago, the Cinderella Deep mine reached a depth of 4,000 feet (1,220 metres). To mark the occasion, the management of the mine, including managing director George Albu gathered at the mine for a historic photo. The Cinderella Deep mine was situated on the farm Leeupoort, just south of Leeupoort street. Around 1905 Cinderalla Deep ran into financial difficulties and was taken over by Sir George Farrar’s East Rand Proprietary Mines.
