Local folk lore has it that, on 18th April, 1976, one Sadanand Kambli, a truck driver in the nearby mines, dreamt that an idol of Lord Ganesh was buried in the
area. He informed the village elders, and they decided to dig in the place till they found the idol. On 1st May, 1976, the entire idol was indeed uncovered and excavated. The idol is 6' tall and approximately 3' wide. The idol is carved out of one single black stone and dates back to the early 100s. Now its painted in hideous modern colours.
