Information about Jagdari Reservoir.
Jagdari Reservoir was created as a result of construction of Jagdari Dam of Jagdari Irrigation Project . Official Designation of the The Project is " Jagdari D - 03977" . However as it is also closer to Shendurjan town Locally this is known as " Shendur Jan Talav" or " Shendurjan Lake" . Jagdari Project was constructed as part of irrigation projects by the Government of Maharashtra the year 1980 . Nearest city to dam is Shindkhed Raja and the Dam is situated in Shindkhed Raja Taluka of Buldana District of Maharashtra . Jagdari Project is built on and impounds a local nallah. . The Dam is an Earth-fill Gravity Dam . Purpose of the Project is for irrigation . Length of the Dam , is 491 m ( 2657.48 Feet ) . while the height of the dam above lowest foundation is 14.04 m ( 46.06 Feet ) . Detailed information about project spillway is not available . At least whatever is left of what was once a Spillway , is in a very bad condition being eroded and washed away and only spillway canal exists today . Catchment area of Jagdari Reservoir is not known . Maximum / Gross storage capacity of Jagdari Reservoir is 3.03 MCM . Live storage capacity is 2.815 MCM . Now a days almost all the water bodies make for good picnic spots Jagdari lake is also a popular Tourist attraction for its scenic beauty .
