A little less than 5 km from Borzone Abbey, close to Borzonasca (GE) Italy, in the village of Zolezzi, it's possible to visit the famous "Megalithic face of Christ": a face carved into the rock that popular tradition describes as Christ. The legend says it was carved long ago by the monks of Borzone Abbey. Actually neither the provenance nor the date are known and different theories exist. The huge sculpture (7M high x 4M wide) was discovered in 1965. No-one has yet discovered other similar carvings in the area. A theory says that it could have been carved by an itinerant sculptor on behalf of the Monks.
