The historic centre consists of two districts:District 1 Parma-Center (18,493 inhabitants) extends to the east of the river Parma, within the old masonry walls, continuing until via Mantua, north of Via Emilia and south of the railway line Milan-Bologna.It is the heart of the city, the district where you can admire the most important historical monuments citizens. Elegant and refined, is the best history ducal town. District 2 Oltretorrente (8,128 inhabitants) extends south-west, between the river and Baganza the railway line Parma-La Spezia, and includes the historic centre to the west of the river Parma.It is an old quarter, which represents the best character of parmigiani, genuine, honest and generous. Approximately 30% of residents of different ethnic origins, but the integration seems for now achieved without excessive tension. Efforts of Municipality and the openness of the population contribute to this promising peaceful and multiracial coexistence.
