he recently revamped Petroleum Exhibition covers Abu Dhabi’s
phenomenal development from a desert oasis to a thriving cosmopolitan city.
Spread across three rooms, there are scale models, photographs and maps charting
the earliest oil exploration in the desert and the Gulf, to the first oil export
from Das Island in 1962. Interactive displays, like giant drill bits and
documentary films (in English, French and German), give a fascinating insight
into one of the world’s largest oil and gas producers. Entrance is
free.
