Clive House - a 1960s office complex that housed the offices of the now defunct Strathclyde Regional Council. After the SRC was dissolved in the mid 1990s, the building lay empty for many years before a grand scheme to replace it with a 39-storey skyscraper called Elphinstone Place was announced in 2003. The tower, if completed would have been Scotland's tallest building, and the tallest skyscraper in the whole of the UK outside of London.
Clive House was quickly demolished back in 2006 in anticipation of the new structure, but the Elphinstone company became a victim of Lehmann Brothers' 2008 collapse and the tower plan died with it.
