The Barracks St. Ovid was built in 1790 by Queen D. Mary I and served as barracks of the infantry units, between 1798 and 1952. From 1926 to 1970, here they were installed the Military Region I Porto Commands, between 1970 and 1975 the Military Region of Porto Commands and between 1975 to 2006 the Northern Military Region Commands. Since then, the building houses the Staff Command.
