The existing Land that was the old Bracknell Sewage Treatment Farm prior to the upgrading to Sewage Treatment Works.

The existing Bracknell Sewage Works was originally a sewage farm, and the area of land at the works is about 22 acres. Over a period of years the method of treatment has been changed and sewage is now treated by filtration. so that the plant occupies only a portion of the site. Consequently the bulk of the land is not now used for the treatment of sewage except in times of wet weather. when part of the flaw is run over an area of land for irrigation before being discharged to the stream.

This then was the position in 1950: a sewerage system extending into two catchment areas with little or no surplus capacity to carry the flow from new development resulting in a need for pumping, and a sewage treatment plant working to Its limit.
