Built in 1925 as the Hotel Wausau. Designed by Holabird and Roche, this 94 foot tall, 9 floor structure was constructed on the site of the old Hotel Bellis. The Hotel Wausau was the local link in Wisconsin's Schroeder Hotel chain, the flagship of which was the Hotel Schroeder (later Marc Plaza, now Milwaukee Hilton) in Milwaukee. The hotel was converted to apartments in the 1970s and the name was changed to the Landmark Building. The old hotel ballroom is the home of the Peking Restaurant, a somewhat upscale Chinese eatery.
