After Bon Ton Grocery burned in 2001 and moved to Camino Real (Hwy 21), the City of Kyle bought the site. The new two-story City Hall opened in April 2006 at 100 W. Center Street. In 2000 the population of Kyle was recorded as 5,314, but in March 2006 the City estimated the population to be 25,322.
