  • Not a clean beach like Besant Nagar or Tiruvanmiyar beaches (if u think they are clean!) - the reality is that stretch is a open air toilet for the two kuppams north and south of this beach... I heard the Beuna Vista folks hire people to clean the beach very often.
  • Once just one of the numerous fishing villages on the Bay of Bengal, Neelankarai (translation from Tamil: Neela- Blue , Karai - Beach)or Blue Beach is transforming into one of the Chennai city's most upmarket and prestigious residential areas. UNFORTUNATELY THE BEAUTIFUL BEACH IS LINED WITH "NIGHT SOIL" EVERY MORNING AS MANY LOCALS SEEM TO ENJOY AN EARLY MORNING CRAP ON THE CLEAN SAND WHILE WATCHING THE WAVES!! MORE PUBLIC TOILETS AND EDUCATION TO INCULCATE CIVIC SENSE AND HYGENE IS NEEDED….
  • Yep I agree that it is not a very clean beach. I remember going here immediately after tsunami struck this place on dec26-2004. It was a ghasty sight. One good thing about this beach is the fact it is very silent.
